Mike - I think what happened to you in 1st class was not caused by someone having an “explosive” toilet event, but rather due to some sort of pressurization and the maintenance crew not doing their job while at the gate to clean out the crap tank and closing whatever valve (or check the valve worked) so that whatever was left in the holding tanking didn’t explode out of the toilet when the plane took off. So, you just happened upon a backfire. This weird pressurization thing happened to my husband when he pumped out the waste tank on our boat years ago. It was not a pretty sight. So, mystery solved.
