Mike and Chuck are entertaining on their own, but together they’re hilarious. Add a guest and you really have a long format podcast that works. Mike’s style of interviewing is so conversational, you really feel as though you are eavesdropping on 2 (or 3 if Chuck is hopping in) people just talking about whatever is important to them. Their solid grounding in common sense is what has me on their team, but what I come back for is to hear who they’re going to have on next. The guests are all stellar and so fascinating, mostly people you’ve never heard of, but who do really cool things. Like most, I love it when Mike brings his mom on the show.
I cheer on Mike’s celebration of the working class, especially the trades. Even though I have an academic background, and I teach for a living, I have a heart for trades-people. In my teaching I see so many students, who for one reason or another, struggle with coursework, not because they’re lazy, but because they’re a square peg trying to fit in a round hole. Whenever I am in a situation to advise, I ask them if they feel like they are in the place they should be, spending all that money on a promise that may never payoff. When their answer is basically “I want a good paying job”, I tell them to Google the average pay for a welder, a pipe fitter, a mason, etc.
I can’t recommend this podcast enough. Keep it up fellas!
