20 Hi everyone, I am Jeff and welcome to history and fact too. It is about today now. Today is April the nineteenth. Yesterday we celebrated Animal Cracker Day and how they brought back childhood memories. Well, today is Amaretto Day. I don't think I've drank amaretto since high school, but Amaretto brings back some great memories for me, you know, pouring it into slurp beas and thinking I was cool and sly. I had a lot more fun drinking Amaretto out of a slurpee cup than I ever had eating animal crackers. But Amaretto, yeah, we kind of emit the teataillers today, So we have to celebrate April nineteenth by not being able to kiss. Only is so spicy? Yes, Coli is a spicy drinks of foods, the tasty and very swing to get.
10 It is National Garlic Day. Be nice garlic. It originally came from Asia. We know people reading at least seven thousand years ago. You know they've been found garlic clothes in King's touts too. Now you can use it to word out vampires. But garlic is very healthy for you. It's one of the most healthy things you can actually eat out there yet lowers your blood pressure and cholesterol, works as an anti inflammatory, helps out with heartburn and ulsters. Plus it has all kinds of vitamins and minerals and that kind of stuff, and it really tastes good. I was joking before. Only five percent of people say they wouldn't kiss somebody after they ate garlic. Today eats something that you can add garlic to and enjoy the garlic. Let's see what happened in entertainment on April and nineteenth. Let's back in nineteen fifty six, and one album was Belafunte by Harry Belafunte. Let's Baxter had the number one song with the Poor People of Paris. Elvis had the numb one country song with Heartbreak. Hotel Well is My bed Love?
25 Will A find a new place to dwelve Wills Donity in the lone street that hobby hotel. I'll be lonely, will let s lonely, I'll be lonely. I could die. The number one book was The Last Hurrah by Edwin O'Connor. The top movie was The Searchers. Civil War veteran John Wayne. He goes to rescue his niece from Comanches after the Comanches had killed his brother and the rest of his family on their Texas farm. Natalie Wood and her sister Lanna with both in there. Kind of small rules, all right, Let's see. It happened in the world on April the nineteenth.
05 It is known as the shot heard round the world. In seventeen seventy five, the American Revolution began. British troops they had gone up to Concord, Massachusetts to seize weapons and ammunition the colonists at stockpiled. Now the shot heard around the world. That came from a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson called the Concord him. Now, no one actually knows who fired that very first shot, British or America. No, but the Americas. They were able to chase the British out of Concord and then Lexingican all the way back down to Boston. The fighting will go on for eight years. Any guesses on where the first US embassy was, well, that would be the Netherlands today. In seventeen eighty two, John Adams he negotiated the Dutch Republic to recognize the United States as an independent nation by the House there in the Hague and made it the first US embassy.
48 All right, let's stay with trivia. Where was the first Boston Marathon ran? I just see it if you're paying attention. Eighteen ninety seven, and the first Boston Marathon was run John mcderbott. He won the race in a time of two two hours, fifty five minutes and ten seconds. The Ethiopians now run the race in two hours and six minutes. Now, Boston Marathon, it is the oldest Annuel Marathon. Now. When the Houston Astrodome was built, it was the world's first dome stadium. Now, they constructed it so the sunlight could come in through the fabric on the roof to keep the grass green. Well, the glare inside the building was so bad that nobody could see anything when we're walking around there. Saw today in nineteen sixty five, they had to spend twenty grand to paint the outside. Yeah, it worked, but of course you know what happened, Yeah, the grass died. So they did invent AstroTurf. It was on TV Today in nineteen eighty seven on the Tracy Omens Show that they aired the first cartoon short called The Simpsons. The Simpsons that will get their own show in two years and yeah still.
41 On nineteen eighty. Nine, during firing practice one of the gun tours of the uss Iowa Battleship, it exploded, killed forty seven sellars. Somehow they loaded it wrong. Nineteen ninety three, the fifty one days stand out between the FBI and the branch Davidians and their compound outside of Waycot, Texas. Ended fires broke out after FBI tank started punching holes in the walls. Some they say that the tear gas they were using and started the fires. Others say they divided the ends, they started the fires themselves. I guess it really doesn't matter now Whole places burned to the ground. Seventy six Davidian died inside and nine escaped. Nineteen ninety five, that incident supposedly led Timothy McVeigh to set off a truck bomb at the Alfred P. Murraw Federal Building in Oklahoma City.
24 Now he had to help a one partner in McVeigh. His truck bomb killed one hundred and sixty eight people and injured six hundred and eighty. In twenty eleven, after forty five years, if you don't cast or resigned US oh President Day of Cuba he put his brother Roo in charge, so nothing changed. In twenty twenty one on Mars, NASA was able to fly their drone helicopter, the Ingenuity. Yeah, they were able to fight on the Red planet. First time there anybody was able to do anything like that. Now they hope they'd be able to fly it on Mars for about three months. You know what, they actually made seventy two flights in almost three years, covered eleven miles of that Martian surface. Coat coat coat show this shiverbirth day. We're gonna pause.
05 He left this shuverfday. We gonna sit ple caage. He like this shirebirthday, and you know we don't give up because that's the birthday. Well born on April nineteenth. Only heaven Rude It was born in Norway in eighteen seventy seven. He immigrated to the United States in nineteen oh six. It was a really hot day on Lake Okachogie. It was outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Only he was rowing his girlfriend Bess across the lake to get some ice cream. Came to the conclusion there had to be an easier way than that. When he got home, he invented the first outboard motor for boats. Yeah, Eleaven Road. It's still the top selling outboard boat motor out there today. Now. He did marry best and he died one year after she did, nineteen thirty four, at fifty seven years old. The Untouchable Elliot Nass was born in Chicago in nineteen oh three. Got famous as a federal agent enforcing prohibition. Now, he and some other untouchable men, they were able to bring down crime boss al Capone. Now they never got him for booze. No, they got him for income tax evasion. Now, after Prohibition was over, nest he became in charge of the police and fire departments in Cleveland, Ohio. Then he developed a drinking problem. His first wife divorced him, so he drank even more, ended up getting run out of town.
09 There in Cleveland, he married and divorced again. So now he is a full fledged blown alcoholic and he couldn't even hold the john down. But a rioter found him and he got with him, and they wrote a book about his exploits in Chicago during the Prohibition day. It's called The Untouchables. Sadly, yes, he died before the book got published. YEA, I was nineteen fifty seven. He was fifty four years old, died from my heart attack. Now the book, of course, It went on to be a huge bestseller and launched TV series and movies. Actress, sex symbol, playboy playmate Jane Maddensfield was born in Bryn Marr, Pennsylvania in nineteen thirty three. She was a huge sex icon in the ninth fifties and fifties and sixties. She is one of the most photographed Hollywood celebrities of all time. In nineteen sixty three, she became the first mainstream Hollywood actress to do a new scene. The movie was Promises Promises.
54 She divorced three times and she had three daughters and two sons. In nineteen sixty seven, she was riding in a car and head into New Orleans to perform in a show. It was in the middle of the night, and all three adults are sitting in the front seat, well three of Jane's kids, they were asleep in the back seat. The driver of the car, though, crashed in the back of a semi truck trailer. Yeah, killed all three adults. Industry instantly. The kids, they really weren't hurt that bad. But one of Jane's daughters, who was asleep. In the back seat was actress Marissa Haggerty from Law and Order Special Victims Unit. Yeah, she was three years old at the time. Now, if you wonder about the janees Manfield legend, about if she is really one of the curviest women in Hollywood's history, Oh judge for yourself.
35 Jane she stood five feet six inches tall. She had a forty d breast, twenty one inch waist and thirty six inch hips. She was thirty four years old when she died. Actor Dudley Moore. Well, we can't be sexist, Dudley. How curvy was he? Dudley He stood five foot two and he was almost one hundred and thirty pounds. Dudley was born in London, England in nineteen thirty five. Best known for the movie as foul Play ten those Arthur movies Mickey and Mutt. He divorced four times, had a son from his second wife. His second wife was actor Tuesday Well. Then he had a son from his fourth wife, Deadly. He died in two thousand and two from a really nasty type of Parkinson's disease. It sounds pretty bad. He was sixty six years old. I'd like it.
26 I'd like. That was Eve Graham singing for the New Seekers. She's eighty three. She's born in Scotland in nineteen forty three. Now that song I'd like to teach the world to sing It was a worldwide hit song. They didn't have that much success here in the United States, so after that the only hits where look what they've done to my song, Ma, and you won't find another fool like me. She left the New Seekers to go solo in nineteen seventy eight and that didn't work out at all. She ended up selling bras at a high end British department store and doing reunion shows. She retired to one thousand is. She married from nineteen seventy nine until her husband died in twenty sixteen. Don't judge by its come. I'm not much of a man, but a lot of day But I'm not I'm wonning love.
17 I'm just just sweet transst That song was Sweet Transvestide from the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show, sung by actor Tim Curry. He's aided today. He was born in Grapping, All, England in nineteen forty six. Now The Rocky hor Picture Show. That was Tim's first movie, but that first time he acted in the show. Voiced over one hundred movies and TV shows. Voiced over thirty audio books. Now Timm he had a stroke in twenty twelve, so it can find him to a wheelchair. That's one of the main reasons he's doing so much voice work nowadays. Actress Ashley Judge. She's fifty eight. She's born in Los Angeles in nineteen sixty eight. Her mom, Naomi, and her half sister Why No No. They made up the country duo The Judge Ashley. She made a name for herself on the TV show Sisters. Then she went into movies.
