We're going super serious today. Now. Not only are we going to be educating today, we're gonna save a guy's life, or maybe a couple of guys' life. We're going to talk about the importance of prostate cancer getting tested and all that kind of stuff. I'll tell you what I did. I bought myself in and an expert. Won't you go and introduce yourself. Hi, Jeff, my name is Elizabeth Jordan. I have a master's degree in psychology, and my book is a lot about psychology. My passion is volunteering with exotic animal sanctuaries, such as a Big Cat Rescue in bar i'vevolucured there for quite a few years, and then I moved to Troy, Alabama and worked there for about another twenty years. So I've spent a lot of time around exotic and dangerous animals.

1:15 Well that sounds pretty exciting. And you got married to so he got another one, right? I did? I got remarried in twenty eighteen, and he's the love of my life. I could not ask for any better. Okay, well just briefly. We're going to touch it throughout the show. But what got you to be a prostate cancer advocate? My husband was first diagnosed in twenty twenty three and we knew nothing about it. My husband had no idea what his past state did. We didn't know what PSA numbers were. And we learned so much, and the book came out of what we learned, not only medically, but also the psychological part of it, because there's there's so much mental and emotion that goes through your mind that doctors don't tell you about. Nobody tells you about this and we do.

You treat me, treat you April fools April. There's no need to silly jokes. Yesterday is April fools to day now to me, April fols, it's gotten pretty lame. Now if you follow a prank on for April first, Yeah, you probably didn't graduate with honors, But what's work. Nobody's coming up with new pranks anymore. Now. April, fols, you not started no back in fifteen ninety two, that's when the whole English Empire and all that they switched over from the Gagarian to the Julian calendar. And wow, so under the Gagarian calendar that you're started on April first.

Well, all these hay seeds out in the woods and everything, they didn't know about it, so they came in to party for New Year's Eve on April first. Sobody just kind of said, you guys are April fools. Oh okay, let's see what's going on in entertainment on April first. Let's back through nineteen eighty two. The number one album was Beauty and the Beat by the Go Gos. Jone Jet and the Black Carts had the number one song with I Love rock and Roll. And I can tell it would belong. This was with Me, Yeah, me, and I can tell it would belong. This was with Me.

The top movie was Porky's Back in nineteen fifty four, or some high school guys want to help their buddy lose his virginity so they could go to a nightclub called Porky's. Well, they get into it with a sleazy nightclub owner and that as the hell. You remember that movie, don't you? Yes, Okay, let's go back to your book. Now, your book, if I remember right, it is called Empower Your Journey, a podcast or a prostate cancer guide book. Is that right? Yes?

4:54 It is. It's so available everywhere now. It's online on your favorite website, Amazon, eBay, you name it. It's there, is overseas, it's in Norway, it's in Portugal, it's it's everywhere right now. And I went on Amazon to read. All you have is five star reviews that'll tell everybody how good the book is. But one thing that I write one thing with on the review is they're actually it's the people that saying that you're taking away out of you know, the fear and confusion and all that like you talked about with you and your husband. But they say it's really good for helping the partners too. Have I received a lot of people say, especially a lot of wives say it has helped their sons. It's helped their husbands, and it helped them understand what their partners are their sons for going through. And before that they had no idea. You know, nobody, the doctors don't tell you that. At the very beginning, my husband started writing letters because he thought he was going to die.

5:55 He wrote letters saying, if I die, give these to my parents. And it's it's very it's a very carible disease. If you are if you embrace it and you're tested and you do what you need to do, it's very curable. Right. And I've read one review where the guy he thought it was a death sentence and then he realized when he read your book that oh okay, I can deal with it. So then your book eased his pain. So then he said, oh, ok I just kind of concentrate on actually getting. Well, right right, very true. Well that's really cool. So remember that book. And I think doctors actually recommended out too.

6:36 We have several doctors that are behind it. We are planning a a party we call it. It's going to be the first ever Celebrate Men Prostate Cancer Project party in Columbus, Georgia in September, which is National Pastay Cancer Awareness Month. And we're just gonna have fun. We're gonna have music, we're gonna have food trucks and just something so man, men aren't celebrated for a freeing cancer amb and survivors as women are, and we want to change that. No, we're going to talk about it later too, because like with women in their prostate or prostate with their mammograms, you know, that's the big news. Everybody's all the news.

7:17 You know, women get your mammograms, and you don't hear that about the men's and their prostate. And it's just as important, right right. Okay, let's see what happened on April the first. Now, when the volcano Mount Vesuvius erupted in the year seventy nine, the town of Pompeii, it was completely buried. Now, people knew what happened, but there wasn't anything they could do about it, so they just kind of went on with their lives and then Pompeii was forgotten. Seventeen forty eight, Spains Rope joking he rediscovered the ruins of Pompey. They're still buried and they're still working on it today. They think they've only after all these years, they've only excavated They think half of that town. That's amazing, isn't it? Yeah? It is. I think y'all know the sign for the dollar bill, right the S with the line through it.

In eighteen twenty six, Samuel Moray he invented the International Internal combustion engine. Now it was a two cylinder. It ran on turpentine fumes. Yeah, remember gasoline for guards. It won't be used for eighty years from before then. Wow, that's amazing, Okay, I have In eighteen fifty three, Cincinnati, Ohio, became the first city to have full time professional firefighters. How amazing is that. In eighteen seventy three, the steamship the Atlantic sank off Nova Scotia, Canada. Sadly, five hundred and forty seven people died. That's just horrible. This should have this should have raised red Flags for the Future because it was also owned by White Star Line, who later owned the Titanic that sank in nineteen twelve. I know we all often seen the movie, Yeah I did.

9:05 In eighteen ninety one Chicago, William Wrigley Junior, a twenty nine year real old guy, founded the Wrigley Company. He was selling soap originally, but as you balt soap, he'd give you a free stick of gum. One year later he stopped selling the soap and started selling the gum, which we all know and is still available today. In nineteen forty five, World War two in the Pacific, the Battle of Okinawa, US forces went ashore. This was the largest amphibious landing in the Pacific during World War Two. The battle lasted eighty two days before the US claimed victory. Sadly, it was one of the bloodiest battles in the war.

9:46 There were forty nine thousand American casualties and sadly, twelve five and twenty passed away along with our soldiers. One hundred and ten thousand Japanese soldiers passed, and almost one hundred and fifty thousand Okinawa citizens were killed. Yeah, that was all. That was horrible and they have clips. At the end of that, the Japanese had brainwashed the Okinawa citizens, so they were actually jumping off cliffs and everything because I thought the Americans were going to be too mean to him. Oh my goodness, that's horrible. Nineteen seventy Richard Nixon he signed a bill that it made advertising cigarettes illegal on TV. So yeah, but smoke less to you know, smoke less tobacco and chewing. You can actually advertise that until nineteen eighty six. Nineteen seventy six, Steve Rosenniyak and Steve Jobs, they founded Apple Computers. It was in the garage of Jobs his parents' house in Coopertino, California. Wow, do you have Gmail? Dude? Two thousand and four, Google launched Gmail. But because they launched it on April first, everybody thought it was just a joke.

So I didn't realize this, but this is actually pretty easy to get tested for your PSA, which is your number that basically tells you if your prostage is bad. Right. Yes, what saved my husband's life was we changed doctors, and the new doctor said, I would like to do extensive bloodwork on you both, and we were like, sure, you know. So he checked his PSA numbers, he checked his white blood count. We didn't know what a PSA number was, We had no clue. His PSA number comeback is nineteen point four. It should be between zero and four depending on your age, and a simple blood test found this. It also found his white blood count was high, which shows you that your body is fighting and infection.

11:53 And he sent my husband to a urologist and he was already and stage to be cancer. So he had been delerund it for basically two years before it was ever caught. If we had not have changed doctors, my husband probably would have passed away from it. So it's very important to ask your doctor, please test your PSA and test your white blood count, even if you're eighteen years old, get a baseline. I have him to test your PSA. Or if your doctors are hurt and know. Your baseline and you don't need any need to go to the doctors, right, you can actually go to what is it lab corp or something like that.

12:36 It's called lap corps on demand and now they have a test at sixty nine dollars. You the person who's going to take the test actually has to purchase the test online. Say I couldn't purchase it for my husband. He would have to purchase this himself. And it has been his name, and he can walk into any lap corps, no appointment, nothing, just walk in. They take a little blood and within twenty four hours you will receive. Your p s A numbers And uh I check that out here in Colorado anyway, it seems a lab card. It's pretty much an all Walgreens. It looked like, oh. Really, yeah, I didn't know that, but that's an amazing step forward for men.

13:19 Yeah, definitely. So guys keep that in mind that you don't even to the doctor. You can just order your test and go into lab car and get your number back and then you'll feel better about yourself exactly. Well, you know you're healthy, you know everything's cool, and just keep a check on it. Every year. Okay, it's birthday time, gop doke shuge, just shivers day. We're gonna pause like this sugardy. We gonna simple to like this shubsday. And you know you don't birthday. Let's just check out a barn on April the first.

Yeah, all that drinking in her living he had caught up with them.

She was also in Singing in the Rain How the West Was Won. She voiced Charlotte and Charlotte's Wibb. Now her first husband was Eddie Fisher and they had actress Krie Fisher and her brother. Then Eddie he left Debbie for Elizabeth Taylor.

In twenty sixteen, when Debbie's daughter, Carrie Fisher, the actors, died, Debbie was so heartbroken. She had his massive stroke when you heard about it. Died two days later at eighty four years old. One am in Nobiir in Cincinnati, Cincinnati, WJR. Nineteen thirty two. We had actor Gordon johnp was born in Dayton, Ohio. We remembering him as mister Parlson. On TV's WKLP in Cincinnati. In Cincinnati, at age thirty two, Gordon started acting doing local theater soaps, and he went on to be the Mace Tech repairman from nineteen eighty nine to two thousand and three. He had been a busy boy in addition to his career. He had twelve children with his first wife, three children with wife number two, and he married wife number three in nineteen ninety three.

Her first hit movie was Goodbye Columbus. She was nominated for an Oscar for Love Story. After that Conboy Players, she appeared in the TV mini series The Winds of War. She had a son from her second husband, and her third husband, of course, was my mom's crush, Steve McQueen, and they were married for five years. John john. Sleeve Juno that song The Lion Sleeps Tonight. It was originally recorded in South Africa in nineteen thirty nine. Then Their Tokens they recorded in nineteen sixty one. Now the original one had the chorus going umbabaweh, which is Zulu for lion. Well, the guys in the band they kind of misheard it, so they started doing we mowalka we wack.

In two thousand and nine, she sadly lost both of her parents. Susan went to Britain's Guide Talent and was nearly lacked off the stage until she started singing. Simon Cowell had a look of amazement on his face, and so did everybody in the world.

But yeah, so if you know anybody who's going through it, even if it's not them, it's their spouse or their kids or something, definitely we're going to push that book really help them out emotionally too, not just giving to help them a little advice about what to do physically, all right.

22:51 It tells you psychologically about what goes through the cancer patient's mind, and so you can understand and better. And I learned at certain times the best thing I could do is just crap my husband and hug them and not say a word. And that helped them a lot more than me trying to explain it or trying to make it better. Sometimes you just don't need words. And it also talks about people around you, people around you who you will notice them, and the patient going through the five stages of grief. So that is not just when someone passes away. You always think of the five stages of grief when someone passes away, but when someone's going through cancer or any illness where they feel that they may lose their life, they go through those stages.

23:48 And if you know that they're going through that and you know what the stages are, you can't really help them. Yeah, it definitely sounds like it. So and just so you guys know out there, I'm not just like preaching to you. I'd live, oh, forty five minutes east of Denver, out in the plains, so we only have one medical clinic and you think, oh, I can't get in for two months to get tested, and then who knows we're going to be doing in two months. I actually am going down to uh Walgreens in Denver. I've got my GIT comming and I'm gonna get tested next week. So that's a wonderful. So all you guys out there, you can do the same thing. Like I said, sixteen. Exactly, it's totally worth it. It totally is. At least and if they if they catch something, great, but if not, at least you have that peace of mind for another year.
