19 Hey, Hello, I am Jeff and welcome to History and Factor. It's about today. Today's August the thirteenth. Fle mignon. So yummy. I like to wanner it war to go out. To eat fleamingon. It's kind of expensive. I cannot always afford it when I go out to it. Today is National filet mignon day. Fla mignon. It is French for a cute fil at or dainty filet. Technically the fla mignon it's the tender line. So if you have a t bone steak, the bigger side is your New York strip. Yeah, the smaller piece that's your tenderline or filameing you now because the small amount of fat on your tenderline, yeah, people they wrap bacon around the side of it and try and keep it from drying out. Now, it is the most expensive cut of beef. They are small, but they're really good, so you have to pay for it.

16 Now. A lot of your local steakhouses are having deals today, so maybe hit those up. If not cook some of yourself, just enjoy some for let mignon or dainty little steaks today. A doctor he makes a vaccine that makes him the only person immune from a biological disaster. It's now the homicidal Mutant. Yeah, they want to kill him. Stars Charlton Heston, Anthony Zerbe and Resident Da cash Alight. What happened on April thirteenth, fifteen twenty one Anteno Ticherlan. It's Mexico City today. Spanish conquistador hernerd Cortez. He and his men. They were able to capture the Aztec emperor Quatimunk. Now that pretty much ended the Aztec Empire right then and there. Now, he was kept in prison for four years, but Cortez he finally executed him because he was given him being alive. Yeah, I gave the Aztecs hope. He didn't want that. Eighteen eighty nine, in Hartford, Connecticut, William Gray he invented the coin operated telephone. Now, see, at one time in history, everybody didn't have a phone with them at all times.

19 So you needed to get a hold of someone, you just go to these boosts and they had phones in there, and you drop coins in there and yeah, and you could call them. Okay, at one time in history, you didn't pay for things with your phone. You had these little silver coins and you could use that to pay for people. Also, in eighteen eighty nine in Illinois, Handsome Good Reatch he invented the stove top coffee pot. Now, it was the first coffee pot that had a percolator. His basic design. Yeah, it's still used all over the place today now. See people still make coffee at home sometimes. Yeah, I've seen pictures I think on my phone. Nineteen oh seven, Harry Allen he imported the first taxi cabs in the United States. He got him from England. He put him in service in New York City Chicago. In nineteen thirty five, at the Chicago Collise, they held the world's first roller derby. Yeah, I don't think the rolls have changed. It's just girls skating around beating the crap out of each other. Nineteen forty two, under the United States General Leslie Groves, the Manhattan Project began. Now the one goal of the Manhattan Project to create the atomic bomb. Now, of course Groves he just oversaw the project. Robert Opera armer. Yeah, he was in charge of actually making that nuclear bomb. Now, I think there's a movie about it. He's probably watch it on your phone. Nineteen sixty one, in the middle of the night, East German soldiers they started building the Berlin Wall. Yeah, before then it was just a barboar fence.

36 Nineteen ninety seven and the TV show South Park debut on Comedy Central. Now, according to what they said, their contract is going to go till twenty twenty seven. They want to end it exactly thirty years even. Yeah, slow day. Joke, gop Co joked, joke, show this shibf day, We're gonna pause. He left this shiverf day. We got simple cause he left this shibirf day. You don't. Well, let's see, he was born on August the thirteen. Sharp shooter Annie Oakley. She was born in Drake County, Ohio, in eighteen sixty. Now she had to learn how to hunt and shoot at a really young age. Her family was extremely poor, so she had to help put food on the table. In eighteen seventy five, this professional shooter, his name was Frank Butler. He came into town. He bet the entire town one hundred bucks. That'd be about twenty five hundred day, that he could outshoot anybody in that town. So the town they took that beck, and then they had somebody to go get Annie. They wanted her to shoot for him, so she came out. She beat Frank. Yep, she won that. Yeah, fifteen year old Annie Oakley, she won that town that hundred bucks. Now the town they were pretty happy with their money. Frank, he was so impressed he married Annie. Then those two took off. They toured the country, putting on shooting exhibition.

She shot balloons out of Frank's mouth. People in the crowd would throw up and she just shoot him out of the air. Now, when they were touring Europe, the Kaiser of Germany will mount in the second he had to shoot a lit cigarette out of his mouth. Well, eventually, Annie, she kind of got bored of doing that, so she retired. Then, when she has sixty two years old, she'd been retired about twenty years, she put on a shooting demonstration for neighbors. She had one hundred clay pigeons in a row. Yeah, I didn't miss one time. Only two guys have done it since then, and they had a lot better guns. Annie. She died from anemia in nineteen twenty six at sixty six years old. Her husband, Frank, he was so distraught he quit eating. Yeah, died sixteen days later. Actor Bert laher He was born in New York City in eighteen ninety five. He was a big star in Bodwell and then Broadway. Of course, he's best known for playing the cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz. He had one son from his first wife one daughter from his second wife.

45 He died in nineteen sixty seven and seventy two years old from pneumonia. He got sick. Sick on the set. Yeah, he was filming a movie. Do you know who said television has brought murder into people's homes where it belongs. Well, the Master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. He was born in Leytonstone, England in eighteen ninety nine. Now, not only is Hitchcock one of the most famous, he is also one of the most influential movie makers of all time. He made movies and TV shows over sixty years now. He actually started down in silent movies. Some of his big ones were Dial In for Murder, Rear Window, Psycho, the Birds. Then he had the TV show that Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Kind of sucks to find out it didn't work that way. But his blood around streamin instrument and the song is in my soul, my lifest man A poor to imitate the man. I'm just studying agacy to the leader. The man, Dan Fogelberg. He was born in Peoria, Illinois, in nineteen fifty one. He had four double platinum albums, two platinum albums, two gold albums. Some of his ets are longer hard to say. Of course none of them played their instruments, but look at it. But it drove David capsle Cassidy drove him crazy. So you don't strum a bass guitar, David. Yeah, they thought he was a real professional. Now since the parts of his family, Dan, He's done a lot. I rallied the TV show. In celebrity boxing, he beat up Greg Brady. Then in celebrity wrestling he beat up Peter Brady. Danny he had a syndicated radio show well over ten years now.

12 He met his second wife on a wife on a blind date. Yeah, they married that same day they met. They remained married for sixteen years. I had two kids when they divorced.
