One of the most creative people anywhere you'll find. Somehow she has time to turn all that creativity TV, films, podcasts, music, immersive immersive development experiences and all kinds of stuff. I don't know how she does it all, but hey, why don't you go ahead and introduce yourself there, Daphney. Hey, how are you today? Are Daphne Weeks. I'm CEO and founder of Twisted Grills Productions, executive producer for Bader Brothers Productions, and CEO and founder of High State's University. I'm a busy gal. Well the first. When everybody starts out on their own, I always asking them, so what got you to take that step about? Oh? Man, you know I got a divorce. Well I separated and it was just kind of time. I'm almost fifty and I was like, you know, you only go around a couple of times here, so I just kind of jumped in full force and I'm like, what do I want to do? And I bought a house and a ghost on I just kind of sek myself up to just do it all in, totally all in. So there really wasn't a plan. I just sort of decided it was time to do a second you know, second chance of life.

1:26 I guess you could say, well, you didn't start small when you started twisted twisted reels, man, you went all in with all kinds of different, different sorts of media too. I did. Yeah, it was really exciting. I sort of just started finding stuff I liked. I really enjoyed series creation, and so I started, you know, building up a nice slate of you know, TV series, and then that sort of rolled into podcasts and then soundtracking. I call myself a soundtrack alchemist. I just I absolutely love putting soundtracks together for anything I can get my hands on. And that just of led into a whole bunch of other projects, and I built a team, got amazing air i AI artists on my team. Now we're creating incredible music, some new shows. Just yeah, lots of exciting stuff. It just sort of all happened, happenstance. I don't know, it just sort of fell fell together.

2:17 I guess you could say nothing and then you just got done with an epic journey literally coast to ghost it did. It was the most epic journey. It was a trip to go get my dog. I left him down in California while I was making a move to Delaware. And big long story, but basically I ended up going from Philadelphia to Vegas. I rented a car in Vegas, drove it down to near Colexico, Mexico, and then turned around and drove from there to Delaware. And here I am. I'm now a resident of Delaware. Do you like kicking big moves? Do you like putting your feet up and having an adult beverage once in a while? I did? I did you? Actually? Were you there? That's exactly what I did. Yes, I had my feet in the window, redneck stile. It was great?

Shall I know you got my message, all my exes and my os and it kills me by the hour. Now I take my whiskey sour Now, today is National Whiskey Sour Day. Now you don't have to be as mellow as cane Brown was there. You can actually have some fun. So what exactly is a whiskey sour. Well, it's got whiskey, then it's usually bourbon. Then you put in some lemon juice and some sugar. You shake it and serve it over ice, with a garnish of orange and then a cherry.

Now it doesn't have the punch of just straight whiskey, but it'll still kick your ass though if you drink too many of it. Now, if you're not into a whiskey sours today, today is actually also banana split day, so I didn't really talk about it because normally Derrek Queen has deals on it. No one's having deals today. So I guess you can have a whiskey sour and then if you get the munchies, have yourself a Banana split. I ran for both. Let's do it.

The top movie was The Fugitive, a doctor he's falsely accused of murdering his wife, so he has to go try and find the real killer while he's involved in a nationwide manhunt after him. That's led by a US Marshall. Stars Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones. That was nominated for a Best Picture Oscar Tommy Lee Jones. He actually won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in there. Wow, I love that movie. I did not realize that he won for that. He should much deserving. Yeah, that's kind of a shock. Most of them nowadays you don't even know who's Do you know any of the movies anymore? No, I don't know anybody at all. I look at People Magazine and I'm like, these are strangers to me.

6:40 I know who these people. Are now on twisted reels. All your stuff, whether it's the films or the music or whatever. I've noticed that you do a lot of paid a lot of attention to your quality, the production quality. Yeah, we absolutely, yeah. I mean I'm a real stickler for that. I just think there's a lot of stuff out there that could be a lot better. Especially say post production. You know, there's a lot of little things that you can do, and so yeah, we pride ourselves. I'm really taking the time to pay attention to detail and really put the right team members on the project. So yeah, I think we pretduced good stuff. Thank you do too. And I notice a lot of your stuff has to do with resilience. Yeah, I'm actually a certified anger management specialist and then also a resiliency trader. It's kind of goes through all through my work. I mean it's like the roots of everything is resiliency and strength. So it's kind of an ethos I guess you could say around the Twisted Reels world our projects. Yeah, totally.

Let's see what happened On August the twenty fifth, fifteen to fifteen Spanish conquistador Diego of Vasquez di Sili he founded the city f Havana on the island of Cuba. Now he built it on the southern coast of Cuba, and it really sucked. You know, it was kind of swamping. It was full of mosquitoes, so he wasn't there. But after four years, in fifteen nineteen, all the people living they just got up and moved the whole city to where it is today. You ever been to Cuba. I have not been to Cuba. I would love to go to Havana. I'm fascinated by the culture. The food, off the chain, off the chain. I know that's got it. The beats and the food.

Now hands Lipper Hay he actually invented the telescope, but Galileo he made so many improvements to it. He increased the magnification by thirty times. Then he started a little profitable business he was building and selling telescope. Now, yesterday, I told you that in eighteen four teen, in the War of eighteen twelve, Dolly Madison and her slaves they were able to prevent the White House from being burnt to the ground in the war. Yeah, the British tried it.

He gave his personal collection of like over five thousand books to reestablish it. Very cool. Eighteen sixty two, the United States Secretary of War, Edward Stanton, he officially authorized black soldiers to be able to fight for the North in the Civil War. Of course, they'd been fighting all along, but it wasn't official. Now the first all black unit, it was for him today. It was the first South Carolina Volunteers, made up of mostly escaped slaves from South Carolina and Florida. Now their biggest badass woman. She was Harriet Tubman. She was their nurse, cook, spy, and scout. This is kind of a bad transition, but you're going from California to Delaware? Are you? Do you like the ocean that I'm assuming I do?

9:58 Actually I lived in the desert time when I live in California, But I'm a big ocean fan. Yes, absolutely, I didn't have to be in the ocean. You like to swim, oh, I love to swim. I do. In fact, it's funny you had mentioned swimming because I'm not sure if you're aware, but in eighteen seventy five, Britain's Matthew Webb was actually the first person to swim across the English Channel. It actually took him about twenty one hours forty five minutes or so. The record today was set in twenty twenty three. Guy did it in six hours and forty five minutes, an impressive speed if you ask me. But I think a guy being able to swim for twenty one hours is more impressive than swimming for under somen So that's my personal opinion.

Another interesting factoid that you might want to want to want to share is that in nineteen ten, John Hurtz formed Yellow Cab, and you would have thought that it was in New York, but it's actually in Chicago. So that was a little chotting to me with a little checkered thing. I would have thought, for sure, neew York, but no Chicago. Yeah, it's crazy, Yeah, yeah, for sure. Hey here's another one for you. See, I got all kinds of facts for you today. Did you know that in World War Two that Paris was liberated from the Nazi German occupation it was mostly the American army. Yeah, I know it's true. It was mostly the American Army that liberated the city, along with some French resistance fighters that kicked the Germans out of Paris, and the French general Charles de Gaulle didn't have anything to do with it, but he sure claimed the victory. So the real hero in this story was actually the German commander of the German army who occupied Paris, Dietrich Vaughan Chalite. I think is I've heard his name said, But yeah, this guy, he received a direct order from Hitler he was to leave the city. He was to blow up every Paris landmark, burned the city to the ground. But he didn't do that.

In nineteen fifty eight, Japan's Mama fuku Ahu say that again that instead of selling packages a pre cooked ramen baby, you just had to add hot water. I mean, these things are magic. Seriously, if you haven't tried ramen tacos, you're missing out. But yeah, this guy Chicken Robin was born and he actually spelled it on the package c chi ki in chicken Ramen. So yeah, there you go. 12:47 That's pretty good. Well, since you're on a roller, I had this immersion experience, let us all know what that is. Yeah, so these are becoming like super popular right now. So basically, you know, you go in with your family, you pay your little fee, and you walk in and you're basically transported into a whole other world. One of the biggest immersive experiences that are happening right now is in Vegas. If anybody's familiar with the Spear, just incredible, just amazing, And so it's basically the idea that you are, as it says, totally immersed in this experience three hundred and sixty degrees. You feel like you're there. You know Disney, you know Universal Studios. So many of these big companies are really jumping on this immersive experience thing, and we're developing one at Twisted Reels. It's called ever Pleasure. The soundtrack is available everywhere just type in ever Pleasure and there'll be more coming soon. We're going to be slowly releasing some music videos that are going to be some teasers for what are Immersive is about. It's going to be super exciting. If you're into weather, this is for you.

And then hardcore Resilience another close personal to my heart is a podcast basically where we're talking the truth about what it takes to be resilient without maybe so much woo woo in there, you know, like that, it's a little more like it says hardcore resilience. Let's talk, you know. So there's so many fun projects coming up.

I'm a little known fact perfect for this show. I'm actually a stocking survivor. And so because of my experiences with that, I became very involved in the executive protection space. You know, any kind of security I really have honed in on that, and so we developed a or I developed with one of my business partners, a training program where we teach first responders executive protection professionals how to use UAV or drone technology to keep their people safe. I like to say, if you can't have boots on the ground, you can at least have an eye in the sky. So that's what we do. We collaborated with another company called Altitude University.

17:14 We're using their coursework. We're currently in a couple of community colleges. It's really exciting times, pretty neat. Yeah, and really definitely needed. And it's totally awesome concept. You turned bad into good. Yeah, exactly exactly, And it's been really rewarding, Like it's been so cool to hear our clients say, you know, we just feel so much better about being able to protect our people because we have this technology and we help them get the license and all that stuff. Yeah, it's a lot of fun. It's great to get out there and meet the first responders like boots on the ground. You know, it's really fun. I'm in doing it. Well, good deal, and that's definitely helping society. So that's having fun on the side on our high stakes. And then you go to the university and actually save the world. That's right. He's born in Edinburgh, Scotland in nineteen thirty. Now I'm not gonna get personal, but he believed that most people's tattoos were frivolous and stupid, but not his, so he only got two of them. When he was sixteen years old he joined the Royal Navy. He ended up getting two tattoos. Always in there. One said mom and Dad, the other said Scotland Forever. Now. After the Navy, he took up bodybuilding. Would you ever think of James Bond as he got third place in the universe?

I just rewatched that for like the fifty thousandth time, maybe two weeks ago. Never gets old, you. But he did start out as a sidekick on The Joey Bishop Show. Then he did a lot of morning talk shows over the years. Then of course he hit with Regis and Kathy Lee and then Live with Regis and Kelly. He was original host of the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. He's played himself in twenty three different movies, so those would be pretty easy lines to remember.

So when you think of twisted reels, what would you if Sondy said what kind of movies do you make out? What would you kind of just blink and give them? Oh? Rock and roll. Absolutely everything we do has a little something something to do with rock and roll. Absolutely, that's that's our overarching vibe. Yeah, absolutely, that's pretty fun.

But basically this TV show concept is where there may be a very straight laced conservative person who marries someone who is, say, part of a biker clan, and so this is, you know, the outlaw in laws and how they're going to get along.

All right, let's hear some rock and roll. You know now, if you don't know who that is, you must be living under a rock. Seriously. That was Gene Simmons singing for the band Kiss of Course. Now, Jean is seventy six and he was born in Israel in nineteen forty nine. It's hard to believe the guy could possibly be that old, but he is, and he's still rocking along. It's crazy. Now a lot of people don't realize that his mom was actually a Nazi concentration camp survivor. When he was eight, his parents' divorce came to the US, so he grew up in Queens with his mom. He helped for Kiss in nineteen seventy three and finally called a Quinton twenty twenty three. Now, the band if You Don't Know, has sold over a hundred million records. That's a lot, and they were in makeup.

He dated some other big names too, But then Jean started dating Shannon Tweed in nineteen eighty three. That's a love story for the ages. They had a son and a daughter and finally got married in twenty eleven. And Jean has never drank alcohol or done drugs in his life. That'scinating. I know, you want to hear something else that's fascinating about him. Him and the other guys in Kiss, they've all had hip trouble and they always from wearing those big old boots, you know, with the big deal boots.

They've sold over fifty million records, won a Grammy in twenty ten for Best Having Metal Album. They are touring here in the States, like I said, September and October. So if you go see him, I'm sure you're going to hear the classics heading up on the highway. You got another thing coming living after midnight, Breaking the law. Rob is amazing. He's just he never gets old ever, and he calls himself the stately homo of heavy metal music. And he is married to his husband Thomas and I think they've been together for like forever in a day. So yeah, fun factoids there.

It's kind of interesting how back when he first came out and the band was he was more thought the band was going to reject him more than the band was like yeah whatever. Yeah, they didn't care. I actually read K. K. Downing's book and he addresses that that they were all actually shocked that he did not come out sooner, because, as he said, we already knew. You were the only one who didn't. I don't, okay, sorry, I had to control myself.

He was born in London, England, in nineteen fifty four, and released his first album in nineteen seventy seven. It wasn't doing very well, and then he was asked to replace the Sex Pistols on Saturday Night Live, under one condition he could not play his radio songs. It criticized the corporate commercialization of music, which of course was such a new no in that time. Elvis said, okay, then of course he played the song anyway. He was then banned from Saturday Night Live for life. One of the few artists. There is a few, but he is definitely one of them.

He's just a god, you know, among musicians. He did have his son from his first wife. He married world famous concert pianist Diana Crawl, who is just a goddess. She's amazing. They got married in two thousand and three. They married at Elton John's house. That's so cool. Can you imagine having that as your friend? Hey, can we use your house for our wedding? Sure? Yeah. They have two sons. Elvis Costello and the Imposts will be touring the US in September and October. I don't know. It must be a British thing. Judas Priest is doing the same thing. What can I say?

That's all that matters. Totally. Do you like movie maker Tim Burton's movies? Who doesn't? Who doesn't? You know? I got to say the only one that I did not like was Dark Shadows. Other than that, yes, total fan, total fan. Your movies are kind of dark. Oh, they're very dark, And I think that's what bothered me about that one was that they should have gone darker. They won a humor route and I kind of thought, e, that's not really sticking true to it. So yeah, as someone who likes to write dark, I think they could have done better. Sorry. Tim.

His very first movie was actually Pee Wee Herman's big adventure of the first twenty director did. Not realize that, Wow, that's fascinating. Mind blown again. So he went from Peewee to Beetlejuice and then the first three Batman movies Edward Scissors and Mars Attacks Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. Did you like the follow up? I did. I like the follow up. I thought it was done well. Maybe a few too many storylines, but I liked it. It was good. It was good. Now he's married to his first wife for four years, and then he dated Helena Bonham Carter for thirteen years and they had two children. I don't know if they still do, but even after they broke up, they've bought houses that were night next to each other, and then they had a hallway they'll go back and forth.
