19 Hi, I'm Jeff, and welcome to history and Factoid's about today, Today's July twenty first. We are called the junk food found everywhere. We do tend to taste good, to eat us with care. Some of us are sugar sweet and some are very hot delicious. We may beat healthy, we are not. Today is National Junk Food Day. Junk food. It is high in fat, sugar, salt, calories. I guess that's why we love it so much. Now, today is your permission to have a cheap day. Eat whatever you want, whatever you've been craving, or just whatever you feel like eating. You know, fast food, chips, cookies, candy, yeah, whatever, that's only one day, So no salas today. Just endulged and some carbs and enjoy that junk food.

02 Now. If you're over forty or so, yeah, you're gonna feel like cap tomorrow. All right, let's see's going on entertainment on July twenty. First, Let's go back to the air. Nineteen ninety eight number one album was Armygeddon movie soundtrack. Brandy and Monica had the number one song with the Boy is Mine. I Shall Do the Thing Jue. Colin Ray has the name on country song with I can Still feel You, I can still feel you just as close as skin.

44 Every now and then I'll found myself in a crowded e bit there's a place you've touched, you that you love, no one gets close. To I can steal feel. The number one book was Point of Origin by Patricia Cornwell. Top movie was Saving Private Ryan Darren World War Two. A group of US soldiers go behind enemy lines to get a paratrooper whose three brothers were killed in action. Stars Tom Hank, Tom Sizemore, and Matt Damon. All Right, what happened on July the twenty first. I'm sure you've all seen depiction of Chinese men back in history. You'd see him, they'd be bald, and they'd have that man bun on the back of the head. That was actually a law sixteen forty five the Manchu Prince Grogan. He issued in order that all Chinese men had to shave the front of their heads, and then we're what they call a que Interesting side note, though, until the last one hundred years or so, Chinese men rarely had to deal with balding her hair loss. It's what changed. They started living in more European lifestyle. Eighteen fifty three, New York Central Park was created. The New York Legislature designated seven and fifty acres of land on Manhattan to be used for a public park. It's actually eight hundred and forty three acres. Eighteen sixty one, the first major battle of the Civil War was fought before and then they were just called skirmishes. It was fighting the him Nassas Virginia. It is the Battle of bull Run. Now, it was a really lop side of victory for the South.

08 But before the battle of the locals they all want to go check it out. So they all dressed stepperly knives, grabbed all their families and the kids in laws and everybody. Then they went out and picnicked over a hill overlooking the battle. Well, once the North started getting whoop and they turned tail and ran right through where all those people were picnicking. Of course the South gave chase. Yeah, those picnickers, they had quite the story to tell. A true Western shootout is where two men would meet in the center of town and then draw on each other. You've seen it lots of movies. Now, the first time it was actually done was today in eighteen sixty five and Springfield, Missouri, while Bill hitcock shot and killed Dave's tough Wow, Toughy has stole them. Bill's watch Now with that one on one quick draw while Bill became a living legend. Eighteen seventy three, Frank and Jesse James and the Younger Gang they robbed their first train. They derailed it near a Deer, Iowa. Now they wore klu Kluck's klan hoods to cover themselves. They got like two thousand dollars from the train safe. See they're supposed to have a shipment of gold, they thought, and it wasn't on the train, So yeah, that was kind of a burmer. So they ended up stealing a number one thousand dollars in cash and jewelry from all the passengers. Now, that was the first time in world history that a moving train had been stopped to be robbed. See what they did is they removed one of the rails. So when the engine got there, yeah, I just went into a ditch.

20 It killed the engineer and the fireman. That Both passengers were pretty much fine, except for fact they got robbed. Nineteen nineteen, in Chicago, a blimp crashed through the skylight of a bank. Thirteen people were killed. All right, some more We're gonna do some state record high temps today. I think we're about Dunel with state record high temps. And anyway, nineteen thirty Millsburg, Delaway got up to one hundred and ten. Nineteen thirty four, Geelopolis, Ohio they had one hundred and thirteen degrees. Nineteen sixty Cini Mavo Brandon Roniki. She was the first woman ever elected the head of a government of her country. Actually, the first time anybody was elected a woman to be in charge of their country. After the primari industry of say Loan. That's Sri Lanka today.

03 Now we keep talking to all these high temperatures every day in all these states and all that kinds of we forget down south. It's still winter. It was nineteen eighty three at the Soviet Union's Vostok Research station in Antarctica, they recorded the coldest temperature ever recorded on our planet, negative two hundred and eight one hundred and okay, negative one hundred and twenty eight point six degrees. So how would you like to be a scientist and get sent from Russia to Antarctica? That was suck at the US warship the Constitution. It set sail in seventeen ninety seven. It got famous being nicknamed Old Ironside. Now it actually sat at a dock for one hundred and sixteen years. Well, they decided, you know what, we're going to celebrate his two hundred birthday, so they fully restored her. So today, in nineteen ninety seven, set sail for the first time one hundred and sixteen years. Now you can actually go see the hip that's in the dock in Boston. I mean you can walk on the deck and everything, but you can't explore the ship or anything like that. But it didn't cost you any money. Twenty eleven and the space shuttle the Atlantis landed. That was the end to the spaceboat shuttle program. Twenty twenty three. A two thousand euro stone slab for grinding spices when discovered in South Vietnam.

08 I don't know how you date a stone, but okay, anyway, they say it's still smelled like nutmeg, coke, Stop cooked coked cojoke shot this shimmers day, wen he left, this shiver day.
