July 22nd-Mango's, Alex Trebek, Danny Glover, Don Henley, David Spade, Selena Gomez, Willem Defoe

19 Hello everyone, I am Jeff and welcome to history. In fact, it's about today, Today's July the twenty second. Di Mango from the tree, and the mango down to me, but the mango in a saxon. Put this cecle up on mine back. Everybody off, help me sing my mango songs. Mango. That was country singer Marty Robbins. Today is National Mango Day. Mangoes they were first farmed over four thousand years ago in India. Most mangoes they're still grown over in Southeast Asia. Now over there, they don't peel the skin off the mangoes. Oh, they keep the skin on and they beat the hell out of it. Then once it's all soft and juicy, they poke a whole in it. Just suck out all the ensigns. Mangoes. They are a super fruit. They are really really healthy for you. But they have a really short season, so it's kind of hard to get them over here. So hopefully they're in season and you can enjoy some mingos today. Let's see what happened in entertainment on July twenty second. Back in nineteen seventy, the top album was would Stock, the movie soundtrack Free Dog and I had had the numb one song with Mama told me not to come rush.

22 Whiskey and you wanna shure and your team, we'lls all this crazy question and asking me, this is the craziest body that could anflep. People don't turn on them lace because I don't won't see. Charlie Pride had the number one country song with wonder if I could live there anymore? Well, it's time to rise and shine and start another hardcourt day, and get the cows in and start the milking chill. It's nice to think about it.

05 Maybe even bus you're gonna wonder could alive anymore. The number one selling book was Love Story by Eric Siegel Todd. Movie was Joe, a wealthy executive and a really right wing factory worker. They bond see one of them tells the other about murdering his daughter's drug dealing boyfriend. Stars Peter Boyle, Dennis Patrick, and Susan Sarandon. Al Right, what happened on July the twenty second, fifteen eighty seven, one hundred and seventeen English Colin has landed on Roanoke Island. It's off in North Carolina. Three years later, they all disappeared. People have been speculating ever since, because no one knows whatever happened, come up with some really wild theories. Yeah, I think it's pretty much we probably aliens that did it.

48 But sometimes I just want to see if you're listening. Seventeen ninety three, Alexander McKenzie and his men, they arrived at the Pacific Ocean. He'd be fitting the first white guy as across Canada coast to coast. Yeah, it was actually the first time anybody he had crossed North America above Mexico coast to coast. Now, they took him, he said it took him seventy four days. But I'm thinking they probably wintered somewhere. But they how'd they get across? Yeah, they took canoes most of the way. Eighteen ninety eight on the Belgian ship and Nogisiach. Now they saw the sunrise for the first time in sixteen hundred hours, that's sixty six days. Yeah, they were the first people actually spent a whole winter down in Antarctica. Nineteen eighteen, in Utah's Wasatch National Park, lightning killed five hundred and four cheap Now it was just one bolt. It wasn't like lightning was picking the ship off one at a time.

35 Nineteen twenty six in Troy, New York, they set the state record at one hundred and eight degrees. Across the border Waterboro, Connecticut. They hit one hundred and five degrees with their state record. Nineteen thirty three, Pilot Wiley posts he completed the first solo flight all the wayund the world. Did it in seven days and nineteen hours. Now that's a lot more impressive than Lindbergh crossing Atlantic Ocean. But everybody knows Lindberg hard anybody knows about Wiley. Joe Biden and some of his cohorts, they were talking about court packing the Supreme Court back in twenty twenty two. They did not come up with that idea. Franklin Roosevelt did. He tried it today in nineteen thirty seven. Now, the Senate, which was pretty much largely Democrat, and they could have done whatever they wanted they had a huge majority, stopped him.

16 Simply said, man, that's not cool. See, there is no set limit on how many judges can be sitting on the Supreme Court at any time, but that since eighteen sixty nine, it's pretty much just been a gentleman's agreement. By all those involved, the number is nine, and so no one's going to change it. Roosevelt he wanted to. He wanted to appoint another six judges, making it fifteen. Now, that's what Biden and his guys wanted to do. But once again, it was actually the Democrats who told him, don't even start trying that. Can you imagine if anybody did try, that would a mess. I'd be appointing all those judges just left and right. After the Civil War, not only did the Union Army take Confederate General Robert E. Lee's house and all his land. Yeah, they turned it into Arlington National Cemetery, they also took away a citizenship. Yep, he was no longer a United States citizen. But today in nineteen seventy, by the else he used the US House representative, yet they voted to restore lee citizenship. Yeah, I'm sure he is pretty glad about being an American again.
