Now, if you're lucky enough to still have a grandma that's still in your life, I have fun celebrating with her today. Now today actually start out in nineteen eighty four, it was to break the old stereotypes about grandma's. Grandma's thought it to be old fashioned sweet demure had outdated styles and clothing and hair. They like to spend their days knitting and baking goods. Well grandma's. They wanted to get rid of that ridiculousness. So today, for all you women over fifty who like to live it up, go out, get drunk, go dance and dress how you want, go out on a date. If you're still single, crank up the music in your car. Just celebrate the gorgeous grandmother you are today, and don't cook for anyone. All right, this is going on and entertainment.

All Right, what happened On July the twenty third, eighteen twenty seven in Boston they started offering the first swimming lessons in the United States. Must have been in the ocean, though, because the first swimming pool won't be both for over the next forty years. Eighteen eighty sac Steve Brody, Now he really, really badly wanted to open a bar in New York City. Probably Steve didn't have any money. Well, one night he was at the bar drink and he met a liquor distributor. Oh, they got pretty liquored up, and the liquor distributor finally said, you know what,
2:50 I'll back your bar, Steve if you'll jump off the Brooklyn Bridge. Oh. The Brooklyn Bridge is one hundred and thirty five feet high. It's almost as tall as a fourteen story building. Steve started thinking about it. He realized, you know what, he really didn't have anything going on in his life, so what the hell he said he had doe? Well, he jumped off the bridge, first person ever to do it and live. Then he opened his bar. Then it catch phrase started. It spread all across the country. It was called do it brody, which means to do something, you know, take a chance, or to make a leap. In Leaf of Faith, nineteen oh four, at the Saint Louis World's Fair, Ernest Tomoay he invented the ice cream cone. Now see, he was selling ice cream in little paper cups like everybody else was. But he ran out of the cups. We went over to the waffle stand next door, bought some maffels, and wife's ice cream cone was born nineteen sixty seven.
3:37 Doctor Starzy in the University of Colorado Hospital before the first successful liver transplant, did it on nineteen month old Julie Rodriguez. She lived thirteen more months and after that, but she didn't die from the liver. She ended up getting cancer and died from that. When she died, the liver was fine. Nineteen eighty three, Air Canada Fly one forty three L was flying from Montreal to Edmondton, had sixty one passengers on board am members. Now seemed like just a regular routine flag cruising along forty one thousand feet. Then the pilots noticed that no one had gashed up the plane before they took off. They ran out of gas over Red Lake, Ontario. Luckily, the pirate Bob Pearson, he was actually an expert glider pilot, and he saw on the map that there was a decommissioned World War two airport, you know, Jimmy Jimmy Lee, Manitoba. So he was able to glide the plane over there.
4:23 He landed it. He led it hard enough where the front landing gear collapse, but that's probably about as good as you can do under the circumstances. No one has hurt or anything like that. So everyone's out there catching their breath, you know. And they opened up the doors and those emergency shoots shot down so everybody could slide out of the plane. They looked up, they realized that, you know, that decommissioned airport over and jim Jimmily, Yeah, I'd been turned into a drag racing strip. Yeah, the stands were just full of people and the racers were all sitting around, sitting on their cars. Yeah, the plane was kind of in the way, go coat, goat, coat coat goat showing this shimmer day. He left this Shuver birthday. We don't simple tage.
