We've done chickens, we even did that Gator farm down in southern Colorado. Today we're going to talk about corn and soybeans and doing some swine talk with one of the premiere Well, I guess you'd call swede lecturers out there. So we're lucky enough to get the farm Iowa Farm Mama, Rachel. Why don't you go ahead and introduce yourself. Well, hello, Jeff, thank you. Yes, I am Rachel, a fishback out of Washington, Iowa. I do Iowa Farm Mama on social media. I farm with my brother Vinnie, and then I also have Pride of Pork. It's a TV show that airs on Acres TV, and I do video content with my people of egg.

1:02 So long you've been out in the farming. Business, Well, I mean I've been in the farming world all of my life. I've been well, I. Was kind of referring to I'm just wondering for one of those family handed down farms. How far long have you your family been farming? So my family's been farming for seven or eight generations, and the farm that my brother and I farm we rent from our grandparents, and that was brought into our family in the eighteen sixties. Oh jeez, you guys know what you're doing now. I'm gonna apple cry. All right. I have to ask the one question everybody asked everybody for I Oh, okay, So have you been to the farm where the field of dreams were shot? I have?

1:44 Is it really actually a baseball diamond? Still? Yes, it is. It's beautiful? Is it all right? We're going to do some you know what we're celebrating today? No, what are we celebrating? Good jeez, she's old. She's taking. She's taking bunch and O she's taking bunching only she's taking cheese, taking cobaba. She's taking. Today is National Cheesecake Day. Cheesecake. They're created an ancient grease around seven to seventy five BC, start out as wedding cakes. On a side note, though it's kind of sad cheesecakes. They are not healthy for us at all, But on the bright side, they come in every flavor so we can all get back together with something we like. Now, there's not really a lot of deals was going on today, probably because it's towards the end of the week or something.

2:35 But of course you know who's having the biggest deal the cheesecake factory. Then get this white castle. They actually have something called cheeseteak on a stick. Who knew? All right, So can you cook a cheesecake? They are really hard for me to make, but every once in a while I try. I think they're kind of hard for everybody to make. You a good cook, I would say I'm average. So okay, Well, you had mentioned your TV show what's that about? Pride of Pork? So I take people behind the scenes of the pork industry, meeting the farmers, the professionals that help us put equipment in our barns, and the veterinarians and sharing pork news and also some pork recipes.

3:17 So no pork cheesecakes. So huh, no pork cheesecake. But I did have an amazing coronat, a maple coronat with bacon on top that was delicious. Oh that does sound good. So what's the difference between bacon and just when they talk about just like the regular belly, it's the thickness. The regular belly is uncured, and it also has more fat. The bacon is cut off of there and cured. Oh so let's fat them. Is bacon's healthy? Huh? I would say it's healthy. Okay, let's say just going on entertainment on July thirtieth, Let's go there. Nineteen seventy nine. Number one album was Bad Girls by Donna Summer. Donna had the number one song with Bad Girls, talking about the Center.

Mark Anthony his army was able to beat Octavian's army. Now it wasn't a big debut, but Octavian they all retreated and everything. Also. Yeah, that pretty much put a stop to that. Eighteen sixty nine, the world's first oil tanker, it's called the Charles, made his first voyage. It left the United States sty headed over to Europe. Now it was completely full, had a little over seven thousand barrels of oil on it. For a comparison, the tankers today they have almost two million barrels of oil. Wondering how much is two million barrels of oil? About eighty four million gallons? Do you have any fun factoris about pigs you can share with us today? Hmmm.

Washington County, Iowa is that one of the largest pork producing counties in the state of Iowa, and Iowa was one of the most the largest pork producing state in the country. So that kind of puts us in the heart of really raising pork for your tables. I think everybody kind of lacks pork with it. When to admit it or not. Are Do you know anything that happened in World War Two today? I do not? Well, I do. I'm sorry I do. World War two nineteen forty five, the United States suffered its worst loss of life from a single ship. A Japanese torpedo struck the USS Indianapolis. The warship sank in about twelve minutes. Unfortunately, three hundred men died immediately. Over nine hundred ended up floating in the ocean, and they did not have time to deploy life rafts. Most of the men did have life preservers. The water, unfortunately, was really shark confessed the men had no food or water. No one knew the ship was even missing until four days later. A US plane saw it as it flew over, and it wasn't even looking for it. So when the Indianapolis was hit by the torpedo had just finished a top secret mission.

No one was looking for them because they assumed the ship was maintaining radio silence. I served on the Iowa Farm burea Young Farmer's State committee back two thousand and five two thousand and eight, was doing some lobbying in the agricultural industry, and I just really loved talking to people showing people how we we farm. And I feel the best way of showcasing that is to actually show people and talk about it.

Well you kind of turned it into that you actually have a business where you actually help other farmers in agriculture business with social media and posting and stuff, don't you. Now, Ford he did not create the assembly line, but he kind of did perfect it. And it was nineteen fourteen when Ford he shocked the world. He said he was giving all his employees five dollars a day, ye and only five day work weeks. See back then that was about twice as much as everybody else was young and making Ford he married and they had one son. He died in nineteen forty seven and eighty three years old. He died from a cerebral hemorrhage. Now five thousand people an hour passed by his castas to give their final respects to Ford as he laid in state, and he got telegrams and flowers basically from in condolences from every single world leader around the entire world, even with the Pope. So yeah, they were condoling us and the Pope. They said, this is for the American people.

12:50 They lost the true icons. That was Ed Burns and Connie Stevens. Connie, she just died a couple of days ago. Now, Cookie, he was Ed Burns. He was born in New York City in nineteen thirty two. Now he probably know him best though for the movie Grease. Yeah, he played that national bandstand host Vince Fontaine or then though he really hit big back in the late fifties on the show seventy seven sun Stet Strip, he played Kookie. He ended up becoming a teen idol. Now, the backstory to that song is that Kookie on the show. He had what they called the ducktail back then, and he was constantly pulling out his comb and combing his ducktail. That's funny the song about it. Now, Ed he married once for ten years and they had a son in twenty twenty.

Paul Anka is eighty four years old today. He was born in Ottawa, Canada in nineteen forty one. He released his first song when he was fourteen, released his first album at seventeen. Some of his hits that he sings Lonely Boy, Diana, the song You Just Heard, put Your Head on My Shoulder, Puppy Love. He still performs a little and he's written over nine hundred songs for other artists, way too many to share it listing. He was married to his wife thirty seven years. When they divorced, they had five children. One of those daughters is married to actor Jason Bateman. Paul married a second wife for four years, they had one child, and married a third for four years when that ended in twenty twenty. All has just been a player since and then. Jimmy Cliff is eighty one born in Saint James, Jamaica in nineteen forty four.

Ironically, the filming of the movie took so long he was seventeen when they finished filming. He has starred in The Boys in the Hood, The Metrics movies, John Wick movies. Oh, I bet I love those tender liines. The reason we were in Iowa at that time I saw you about. I was moving the guy that I worked with and just helping him out. He's from Iowa and he's coming to Colorado, but he tells us we had to come back. His main thing is like a loose meat sandwich or something that he swore by, and they said that, everybody, that's what I have to have here, and you have to have these loose meat sandwiches.
