19 Hello everyone, I am Jeff and welcome to history and factoids about today. Today is June twenty ninth. I want to hug when we say, I want to hug when it's time to go. I want to hug the cause I won. You didn't know how I'm off of living on the U. I want to hug. What a wonderful feel. I want to hug a few you squeeze and I want to hug. It certainly seems like the masur real thing to do today is National Hug Holiday. Hugging It separates primates from the rest of the animal kingdom. It's called the cuttle hormone hugging. It really lisays oxytocin that helps strengthen bonds, and it helps reduce illness and it helps less severe symptoms for people who are sick. Now, today isn't just about hugging sick people. Today is stuck. People look like they need one. You know, someone who looks sad or lonely, depressed or just having a bad day. You know, a hug can really be a blessing for someone. It also reassures people that you really care about him. So a hug can do a lot of great things and it's free to give out. All right, let's see what happened in entertainment on June the twenty ninth. It's back to nineteen ninety seven. Number one album was Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlyle. Buff Daddy and Faith Evans had the number one song with I'll be Missing You when it's Rich Feeling's heart to conceive You can't imagine all the can I feel? Give anything to hit halfy breath? I know you still living your life seeing day time up ray
54 Tim mcgrawn, Faith They'll had the number one country song with It's Your Love. Just gotta let you know what he is at all. It's your It's just something to me. It's Central Shop, right can The top silling book was Plumb Island by Nelson de Mill. Tom move was Face Off Now to stop a terrorist attack, an FBI agent has to have a face plant surgery with a criminal, the one who actually killed his son. Oh the bad guy woke up early and Vow's Revenge stars John Travolta and Nicholas Cage. All Right, what happened on June the twenty ninth the Globe Theater in London. It was really famous.
42 It was really non for putting on plays who were written by William Shakespeare. In sixteen thirteen, they're forming his play Henry the Eighth. Now to announce that Henry the Eighth was arriving, they fired off a couple of stage cannons. Wow, that set that that root, that's roof on fire. Yeah, burn the whole Dann theme to the ground. I mean everybody got out. I mean it started in the roof. Now they did rebuild it fournred years later, nineteen fifty six, President Eisenower he signed the Interstate Highway Act that created the Interstate Highway system that you drive on today. They said it was gonna cost twenty five billion dollars and it was gonna take ten years to build all forty one thousand miles of the Interstate Highway. Well, it actually took thirty five years, and it costs a lot more than that. The last section completed was here in Colorado. As I seven, you're going through the Glenwood Canyon. Nineteen eighty eight, Iceland, they elected the world's first demically democratically elected female president. Sure, I'll give it a shot. Her name was Big Diss Finn Buggeteer Sure nineteen ninety four in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, got to one hundred twenty eight degrees. It's the highest temp ever in Arizona. In two thousand, rapper Eminem's mom shoot him for ten million dollars for defamation of character. She was really mad. In his song My Name Is, he said that she smoked more dope than he did. He's found out, my mom's just more dope than I do.
55 Man. I told him I grew up. To be a famous rapper, make a record about doing the name it After. She said, hell, no, no way, did she smoke more dope than he did? Wow? The judge just kind of said, Eminem, give her twenty five thousand dollars and let's give a call it good. Twenty fifteen, in the Beijing Times newspaper, it reported that thirty percent of the Great Wall of China has disappeared. Now. Some of it is from natural causes and erosion and that kind of stuff, but a lot of us just from people stealing bricks. Twenty twenty one. Light in British Columbia, now they shattered the hottest temperature ever recorded in Canada, one hundred and twenty one degrees. The old temperature was one hundred and thirteen Leyton. Yeah, it was destroyed by a wildfire the very next day.
36 Joke doke, coked, coke, joked, coke, joke shot this shivers day. We gonna pause he left this shiver day. We won't simple cars like this Shivers Day. And you know we don't give up God's birthday. Well, it's just see was born on June the twenty ninth. Actor Slim Pickens. He was born in Kingsburg, California, in nineteen nineteen. Now, in high school, he'd make some money on the side doing some rodeo stuff, but his dad had forbidden from doing rodeo, so to hide it from his dad, he went by the name Slim Pickens. Now his brother went by Easy Pickenson. Now after high school. Yeah, actually Slim's real name was actually Lewis Linsley. So after high school he did the rodeo circle and he did it for twenty years. He was one of the most popular rodeo clowns on the entire thing. So after he retired, went into movies Doctor Strangelove, Young Riders, Blazing Saddles, The Apple Dumpling Game. Yeah, some of his movies. I don't know why, but he always seemed to play a cowboy.
29 He got married nineteen fifty and they had three children, Slam. He died nineteen eighty three, sixty four years old, from a brain tumor. I know you don't get to like it. He boyd. She is best known was Little Eva. She was born in Belle Aven, North Carolina, in nineteen forty three. Now, when she was a teenager, she was babysitting for the songwriters Carol King and Jerry Goffin. Then when they came home one night and they saw her singing and dancing with their kids, they wrote that song lok Emotion. Now they last it'll sing the demo for him. Well, after he shang it and sang it, yeah, they decided that she should just do the song hit number one in nineteen sixty two. She also had the heads keep your hands off my Baby, Let's do the Turkey Trot Swinging on a Star. Now, when so Locomotion was number one, she was getting paid sixty dollars a week for it.
32 Yeah. King and Guffin, Yeah they kept all the money. Now, Actually she didn't make much money in her career. She just went for one bad record contract to another. She did okay a little bit later, playing on the oldie circuit. She was married for twenty years and they had three children. She died from cervical cancer in two thousand and three, fifty nine years old. Actor Gary Busey is idy too. He's born in Goose Creek, Texas, in nineteen forty four. Goose Creek is now called Baytown. Yeah, it's the suburb of Houston. Start out playing drums in a couple of bands. He did a little acting on the side. I didn't find the known in the movie as Stars Born. He had really a big playing Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story. He wasn't even nominated for an oscar for it. Then Leaf the Weapon, Point and Break Underseage Black Sheet. He'd been in almost under thirty movies. Nineteen eighty eight, he crashed on his motorcycle and fractured the skull, so he got permanent brain damage from him. So that kind of explains why he's so weird. Gary. He had one child from a girlfriend. He had one child from his first wife, married his third wife in twenty nineteen and they have a child. Comedian Richard Lewis. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, in nineteen forty seven. He had a lot of success as a stand up comedian in the eighties and nineties. He had this really neurotic kind of dark, self deprecating humor that he did. Then he started on CV sickcom Anything but Love. That was with Jamie Lee Curtis. Biggest movie was Robin Hood ad been in Tights. He played who was at Prince John? I think he got married in two thousand and five. He died from a heart attack just last year. Seventy six years old. He started acting when he's going to Harvard. Biggest role was on TV and he played Gopher on the TV show The Boot. Now when the series ended, he retired from acting and went into politics. He was in the House of representatives. He represented Iowa from nineteen eighty seven in nineteen ninety five. Since then he's done a little acting, but he pretty much does like talk radio and that kind of stuff. He's really conservative. He had a son and a daughter from his first wife. Married a second wife in nineteen eighty seven and they have a daughter. Don Duncan he's still rocking it seventy three years old. He's one of Los Angeles. In nineteen fifty three. He started out in the back called Airborne seventy six nineteen seventy eight. He got him to change their name to Dawkin. Some of their heads are dream War years in my dreams. You just got lucky breaking the chains. It's not love Now. He's released a couple of solo albums, but when he races those he goes by Don Dawkin, so that's a big difference between the band Dowkin. He didn't have to split the money that way.
16 He has one daughter all that way. If you hang outside, don't come in. That was Colin, a singing lead for Minute work. He still does. They're still together Colin. He's seventy three. Also. He was born in Scotland, moved Australia when he was fourteen go form Minute Work in nineteen seventy eight. Now they don't have a cool name. How they got their name or anything like that. They didn't have a name when they showed up to play their first gig. They said, who are you? And we're Minute at Work? Yeah, prem some Minute Work hit songs are who Can It Be? Now, down Under, Be Good, Johnny Overkill. Now in Colin, he's not with min at Work. Yeah, he's with Ringo Starr and his all star band Colin. He is married the singer of Cecilia Noel. She's from Peru. Now they both became US citizens just recently legally. Actor Lance Barber was born in Battlecreek, Michigan, in nineteen seventy three, makes him fifty three today, best known for playing Sheldon's dad George on the TV show Young Sheldon. Start out doing improv Jennifer Gardner. She was in his comedy Troop. Now he
47 is married and they have two children. Don't you should go from us hot like me? Don't should go from muzzle freak like me? Don't guys do not answer that? She started out in the group Eaton's Crushed, then she moved over the Pussycat Dolls some of other songs you might know or don't You Stick with You? When I grew up? I hate this part. They broke up in twenty ten after seven magical years. Now the call she did win Season ten and Dancing with the Stars, so she's always got that.
30 Now she is engaged to a former Scottish football player or well over there Rugby, I guess alright. Our quote of the day is coming from legendary actress Catherine Hepburn.
